Carly Rae Jepsen
“Party for One”

Carly Rae Jepsen is back on her beat, indeed.

“Party for One”, her latest track, takes matters into its own hands and makes lemonade out the lemons left behind after a particularly sour break-up. Jepsen’s being her own best friend on this post-relationship anthem, losing herself in the deep end of a deliciously simple melody and musical arrangement. Beating off all the naysayers critical of her appeal and talent, “Party for One” plays to Jepsen’s strengths. Her soft purr of a voice glides overtop throbbing, sometimes jackhammering beats, before switching on the manual overdrive and sending her vocals skyward to orbit Venus on a gloriously catchy chorus.

Jepsen’s says “Party for One” is an anthem that celebrates time with oneself, “a hard thing for people to really enjoy sometimes, and it’s something I’m learning to do more and more.” Whether you’re out walking the dog, making soup, or polishing the banister, “Party for One” is perfectly suited to soundtracking your solitary pursuits as it plays on endless repeat.
