The Nude Dogs make pugnacious punk rock that explodes like a runaway acne breakout with snotty, adolescent angst. They’re caustic, rowdy, and wickedly fun to listen to. By all accounts, their live show is an equally unhinged kamikaze attack on the senses. If the Nude Dogs has been old enough to have a Myspace page, its “Sounds Like” box would say “primal punk played through a blown Marshall Stack”.
“Fuck This”, off their 2017 EP Doll Creatures of the Valley, offers up myriad vicarious pleasures. For starters, the primal stream of invective vocalist Kali-Ann Butala spews is as cathartic for listeners as it sounds for her to spit out. “Tired of the same old thing,” “Fuck This” is the universe’s collective sense of apathy colliding with humanity’s overriding desire for change. It is simultaneously everything you love and hate rolled into two minutes of demented, deranged dissonance. If you’ve ever felt the urge to walk into a classroom/meeting/office/book club with a ghettoblaster and wake all the pathetic lemmings up John-Cusack-circa-Say Anything-style, “Fuck This” is the song you’d rock.
