DOMINIONATED contributor Matt Hertendy is heading back to FME — le Festival de musique émergent en Abitibi-Témiscamingue. Here’s a preview of who he’s looking forward to seeing.
Staying in a big crowded city on a long weekend can suck. Luckily, from August 29-September 1st the small Western Quebec mining town of Rouyn-Noranda becomes a party town as top indie acts from around the country come to play.
This year’s lineup features past DOMINIONATED Favourite Fifty acts such as Karkwa, Nyssa, Safia Nolin, Haviah Mighty, and Joe Grass.
Other notable acts include the chaotic industrial post-hardcore band Slash Need, and Peter Dreams, who is instantly recognizable as the growly half of July Talk, embarking on a solo journey. Acadien punk outfit Peanut Butter Sunday will be a group not to miss, as well as Maryze, Dope.gng, Angine de Poitrine, and many many more.
For those in Eastern Ontario, Rouyn-Noranda is barely an 8-hour drive, which is nothing with a car full of our best pals on your way to catch a weekend full of great music and lots of surprises.
